What’s it like to be and Island Girl? Fifth-generation Islander Christie Ontko shares her thoughts and dreams, her pet peeves and admiration for the island she has called home for more than 40 years. A former teacher and columnist for the island’s newspaper, The Put-in-Bay Gazette, Christie is the owner and developer of OntkOrganix, a line of products inspired by one of her great-grandmother’s healing remedies.

The Beautiful Benefit of Roses

In chemistry and in homeopathic medicine, we know “like helps cure like.” Roses have been used for centuries on the skin, and many speak of Cleopatra’s use of Rosewater for her face. So, because of what we know about chemistry, we’ve can surmise that skin care made with roses, can also help calm the extra redness of rosacea, too. 5 Reasons To Shop at OntkOrganix

5 Reasons To Shop at OntkOrganix

It can be so easy to pop into your local drugstore or national chain shop (with a mask on, of course) and purchase your body and skin care products, I know, because I used to do this. However, have you ever looked at the ingredients on the backs of these items? Has it ever crossed your mind about how long they’ve been sitting on those shelves? Who made the products, where were they made and poured? What about all the plastic and unnecessary packaging these companies are using, even though they know better? So many questions… Deep breath. 1. Ingredients […]

Why We Use Plant Infusions For Our Skin Care Products

Many companies today use essential oils, and they can be a wonderful asset to skin and body care. However, at OntkOrganix, we go one step further by using infusing plants into our products. Let me explain. Essential oils are made through distillation with steam and/or water. Sometimes, they are extracted using mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.
